Latisse: Male Balding Cure?
It seems the ladies eyelash growth chemical, Latisse is now being examined as a male balding cure. Latisse is getting some serious media attention these days and the most recent exposure can be found via The Huffington Post.com.
Check out this information for yourself and let us know your thoughts below in the comment section.
Much has been said about the side effects of Latisse (including skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes and redness of the eyelids), but could the FDA-approved eyelash enhancement drug, in fact, cure male balding?
Dr. Alan Bauman, a hair restoration physician in Florida, has been using the formula on men with wispy strands, “just like you would for your eyelashes, and that would be once a day, and you use a little bit topically, on the scalp,” and he’s noticed that it stimulates the follicles on the head. He told “Good Morning America” that he’s seen positive results in 70 percent of clients.
However, Sy Sperling, who you might know from the Hair Club For Men, told the cameras, “When there’s a real solution for baldness, I’ll be banging your door down. I’m ready for it. People shouldn’t get too excited about [this]. I think that [Latisse is] a lot better for the eyelashes and not quite as successful for hair loss.”
It’ll also cost you a pretty penny — Latisse runs $150/month for 400 eyelashes and the average male has 100,000 hairs. But, as Bauman says, avoiding total hair loss: priceless…you know, if it works.

Hair Loss Breakthrough Or Scam? You Decide
Ever see a lint roller? Ever use it? Consider using it on your head??! Okay, that may be a bit extreme, but check out this hair loss breakthrough treatment I found. A scalp roller!
Scalp Roller Treatment
A unique Titanium microneedle roller called the Scalproller was unveiled by the British biotech Nanogen at a conference in Amsterdam. Over 400 of the world’s leading hair loss surgeons and trichologists visited the recent July ISHRS annual meeting where the Scalproller was first exhibited.
Nanogen’s Scalproller has 4 clinical applications to enhance existing hair loss treatments. When using the Scalproller, penetration of Minoxidil – a prescription hair loss treatment, is increased by over 5 times on treated skin compared to untreated skin. Additionally, Scalproller therapy fades and removes donor scars from hair transplant surgery. Cutting edge hair loss treatment Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) also requires Scalproller treatment to activate the growth factors. Furthermore, the latest research on behalf of Intercytex by Dr Bessam Farjo, and pioneering studies by Dr George Cotsarelis provide evidence that Scalproller therapy may produce new hair growth independently of any other treatment.
Dr. Farjo, immediate past president of the ISHRS and also an attendee of the conference, was impressed with this innovation,
“Nanogen’s Scalproller device is interesting in that it uses concepts of recent leading-edge hair loss research. Certainly, as demonstrated by the recent Intercytex cell therapy trials and previous work on the animal model by Cotsarelis et al., there is good research data to show stimulation of hair growth in response to skin stimulation or injury. Studies have also shown that needle holes of 0.5mm depth or more penetrate the skin sufficiently to increase the diffusion of compounds of similar molecular weight and charge to Minoxidil.”
The Scalproller is unique in that it is the only microneedle therapy roller specifically designed for hair loss treatment. According to Nanogen Medical Director Elliot Isaacs, “The previous technology for dermatological purposes was insufficient to meet the durability and accuracy requirements of a professional medical device. Harder titanium needles and precise European engineering techniques were necessary to produce a roller that will stay sharp for over 4 months, and perforate the skin to the exact depth every time.”
The Scalproller, already the subject of several international patents pending, was enthusiastically received by the hair loss and surgical community. Both the home use versions and the longer 1 & 2mm clinical models are already in use in a range of professional practices, and several applications have been made to Nanogen to conduct new research utilising the Scalproller.
Okay, so have you tried this yet? Please share your thoughts below on this treatment.
FDA’s Class Action Lawsuit against Avacor
Avacor being sued by the FDA: It might not come as a surprise to many but Avocar is being accused by the FDA of Misleading Claims, and misrepresentation of the products ingredients.
The Class Action Lawsuit goes on and disputes the alleged efficiency of the product, as well as the trials that we held in order to prove the 90% success rate claimed by the products label.
Propecia results video report
Although the visual results are not conclusive, there is some apparent evidence of regrowth.
We must add an obvious disclaimer, since we cannot verify the veracity of the claims in the video.
Nizoral
This is a particularly interesting product that bears watching in the future because, like so many products in the past, it wasn’t specifically developed to treat hair loss.
At the moment, Nizoral is not actually endorsed by the FDA in the United States as a treatment for hair loss and as such cannot be marketed for that purpose.
However, having provided the legal ‘disclaimer’ there is a growing body of evidence that suggests Nizoral can stimulate hair growth.
Avodart
Avodart is a prescription medication that is often prescribed for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) which is an enlargement of the prostate gland that is not malignant.
During both clinical studies as well as in reports coming in from men currently using this pharmaceutical, it has been shown to be effective in treating pattern baldness as well.
Although it has not been approved for use as a hair loss treatment by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States, there is ample evidence to support the fact that it can effectively inhibit hair loss and promote new growth.
Revivogen
Revivogen is an all natural three part solution that has proven to be effective in treating hair loss. Many individuals have opted to use natural solutions such as Revivogen over chemical pharmaceuticals for the obvious reason that natural products do not produce a great number of unwanted or serious side effects.
Currently, Revivogen is available in Scalp Therapy, Bio-Cleansing Shampoo and the revolutionary Thickening Conditioner.
Rogaine
Rogaine is the pioneer in topical hair loss products and has been in use successfully for the better part of four decades.
It was first introduced in the 1970’s and as further scientific research with corresponding clinical studies has evolved, the effectiveness has improved significantly.
It is the only FDA approved topical treatment for both men and women suffering from Androgenetic Alopecia, a genetic form of hair loss often referred to as Pattern Baldness or Pattern Hair Loss.
Propecia
Of all the medications and solutions for Male Pattern Hair Loss, Porpecia is the only pill that has been approved by the Untied States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in Male Pattern Hair Loss.
It has shown some remarkable results and statistics indicate that it is highly effective when taken as directed.
